On August 1, 2013, Delaware welcomed a record 17 companies to register as Delaware benefit corporations on the statute’s first effective date.
Registering companies include home goods brand Method Products, growing organic baby food brand Plum Organics, paper company New Leaf Paper, fair trade food business Alter Eco and Farmigo, the world’s first online personal delivery farmer’s market.
In collaboration with BLab, I sat down for brief conversations with the signatories on why they decided to sign up as Benefit Corporations and where they hope to see the legislation take their business — and the economy in the near future.
